Roshydromet issues flood forecast for Tomsk Oblast

Roshydromet expects the 2026 spring flood to be more severe than last year, particularly in Central, Siberian, and Far Eastern federal districts, including Tomsk Oblast.

This year, the spring flood will be more complicated than in 2025. This preliminary assessment was given by specialists from Roshydromet (the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring). In particular, this will affect the Central, Siberian, and Far Eastern federal districts.

«Above-normal maximum water levels during the spring flood are possible on rivers of the Upper Ob with tributaries (Altai Krai, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, and Tomsk Oblasts),» the Roshydromet website states.

At the same time, the winter regime across the entire territory of Russia, as of the end of January 2026, remains normal for this time of year.

According to specialists, water levels above normal could rise in the following rivers:

Tom

  • Parabel

  • Yaya

  • Kiya

  • Chaya

    A difficult situation is also expected in the neighboring Kemerovo and Novosibirsk Oblasts.

    Earlier it became known that 28 sites in the regional capital are located in a zone of possible flooding by flood and melt waters this year. For the most part, they are located in Cheremoshniki, Stepanovka, Ewshta, Nizhny Sklad, Timiryazevsky, Dzerzhinka, Anikino, and so forth.
