Novosibirsk Oblast has been included among territories with elevated risks of flooding. The forecast was published on the website of Rosgidromet (Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring).
“An analysis of current hydrometeorological conditions shows that the spring flood of 2026 will be more complex than last year, particularly in the Central, Siberian, and Far Eastern Federal Districts,” meteorologists said.
In Novosibirsk Oblast, above-normal water levels are forecast on the Baksa, Karasuk, Kargat, Om, Tartas, and Tara rivers. On the Berd and Inya rivers, levels are expected to be within normal range or above. Inflow to the Novosibirsk Reservoir in the second quarter of 2026 will be near normal.
Earlier, Governor Andrei Travnikov warned officials about the high probability of severe flooding due to large amounts of snow and unstable weather. Precipitation in the region has already been 10–30% higher than last year.
