Tserkovny May Leave Basketball Zenit

Information about a possible departure of Tserkovny appeared on 2 February. The general director, who heads the St. Petersburg basketball club, could leave BC Zenit in the summer.

The agreement between Tserkovny and Zenit runs until the end of the season. The parties are not currently discussing the issue of a new contract. The club«s press service declined to comment on whether negotiations on extending the cooperation with the general director are underway.

Chairman of the board of directors of BC Zenit Alexander Medvedev responded to a query about Tserkovny«s future, saying: «This is not the time or place for that question.» Under the leadership of Alexander Tserkovny, Zenit has won the VTB United League only once, although the club consistently had one of the largest budgets in the tournament. In the 2023/24 season, for example, the blue-white-sky blues» budget was the largest in the league.
