Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod defeats KHL champion again, fourth straight win

HC Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod defeated the current Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) champion, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, for the second time in five days. The away match took place on Monday, January 19.
The game at Lokomotiv«s arena ended with a score of 3:1 in favor of the Nizhny Novgorod team. In the middle of the second period, Danil Zhuravlev opened the scoring, after which the opponents responded with a goal against Torpedo. The second goal was scored by Vasily Atanasov, and the third, winning goal, was by Vladimir Tkachev.
Torpedo«s head coach Alexei Isakov noted during the post-match press conference that this game was very important for the team. Just a few days ago, the hockey players shut out Lokomotiv on their home ice and were prepared for the Yaroslavl team to start playing aggressively after the away defeat.
«It»s very great that we won on the road. In December, we did experience certain difficulties with our game. Now the team is starting to gain the momentum we want to see. But we understand that to continue playing at this level, we need to always be 100% ready,« shared Alexei Isakov about the match.
The victory in the past match was the fourth in a row for the Nizhny Novgorod team. On Saturday, January 17, they defeated Spartak in an away match. And before Lokomotiv, our hockey players also secured a victory from Dynamo.
