On January 31, the Torpedo hockey club from Nizhny Novgorod lost an away game to Ufa«s Salavat Yulaev. The final score was 3:1 in favor of the home team.
The only goal for the Nizhny Novgorod team was scored by forward Kirill Svishev in the second period.
Torpedo head coach Alexei Isakov commented on the game: «We had three different periods. At first we were a bit asleep, and that»s more a question for ourselves. Then we tried to impose our game, but penalties started and they knocked us out of rhythm. In the game, everyone had good chances. Salavat Yulaev took theirs and won.«
This defeat was the team«s third in a row. On January 28, the Nizhny Novgorod team lost to Cherepovets» Severstal, and then to Novosibirsk«s Sibir. Before this series, Torpedo had won six straight games, including two victories over the current KHL champion.
Recently, the club underwent personnel changes. Goaltender Ivan Kulbakov, who spent four years in Nizhny Novgorod, moved to Vladivostok«s Admiral. In the opposite direction, as part of the exchange, experienced players Dmitry Shugaev and Igor Geraskin arrived at Torpedo.
