In the VHL championship, Rostov suffered a home defeat to Khimik from Voskresensk. The match ended with a score of 1:4 in favor of the visitors.
The first period passed without goals. In the second playing segment, Khimik«s hockey players took the initiative, and in the 24th minute, Pavel Kukshtel opened the scoring.
In the third twenty-minute period, the guests scored two more goals, increasing their advantage to 3:0.
In the final minutes, the teams exchanged accurate shots. The Condors strived to come back, but failed to do so. The final whistle recorded a victory for the Voskresensk team with a score of 4:1.
“Another failure at the start of the third period decided everything. The grossest mistakes. With such an opponent, you can«t make such mistakes. If we need ten chances to score, the opponent needs two. A skillful team. In principle, then we tried to somehow change the game: we changed lines, the goalkeeper… We seemed to move a bit, created chances, but, unfortunately, without goals it»s hard to win. We created chances, in principle. Good chances. We need to convert them. The forwards today had another uninspired game,” summarized Rostov«s head coach Grigory Panteleev.
Rostov«s next match will be on February 2, hosting Moscow»s Zvezda on home ice.
