Olympic Champion to Attend Open Speed Skating in Perm

The Winter Sports Festival (0+) continues in Perm. This weekend, speed skating competitions will be held at the recently reconstructed Yunost Stadium, where participants can speak with an Olympic champion after the events.
On Sunday, January 25, the «Everyone on Ice» speed skating competitions will be held at the recently reconstructed Yunost Stadium. All are welcome to participate. Olympic champion Nikolai Gulyaev, president of the Russian Speed Skating Union, will visit Perm for the event.
Nikolai Alexeyevich Gulyaev is a Soviet and Russian speed skater and statesman. He won the gold medal in the 1000 meters at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, setting a record of 1 minute 13.03 seconds. He is the 1987 world and European champion in all-around speed skating, and was the last Soviet speed skater to achieve this title. Gulyaev is also a two-time USSR champion (1987 and 1992).
The event begins at 09:30 with registration and an on-ice interactive program, followed by 100-meter races. Participants are divided into three age groups for boys and girls: 9-11, 12-13, and 14-15 years old. Mass starts are also open to everyone.
After 12:00, Nikolai Gulyaev will meet with participants and take questions from the audience. Registration for the competitions is available on the festival«s website.
