The 2026 European gold medalist in the individual pursuit, Lev Gonov, represents Russia«s School of Higher Sports Mastery in St. Petersburg.

Cyclist from St. Petersburg Lev Gonov won the gold medal at the European Track Championships in the individual pursuit. In the decisive 4000-meter race, his time was 4 minutes 3.491 seconds, allowing him to beat Dane Joel Skivild, who finished with a time of 4:05.577.
The 2026 continental championships are taking place in Konya, Turkey, from 1 to 5 February. This victory was the second medal for Russian athletes at the tournament: earlier, another St. Petersburg cyclist, Ilya Savekin, won silver in the scratch race.
Russian cyclists are participating in the European Championships in a neutral status, only allowed to compete in individual events.
Lev Gonov and Ilya Savekin represent the St. Petersburg School of Higher Sports Mastery in Cycling and Triathlon.
