Residents of Perm will be able to watch snowboarding competitions without leaving the city. Right on the esplanade on January 23 and 24, all-Russian snowboarding competitions in the slopestyle discipline «Snow Battle» will be held.

Amateur competitors will have the opportunity to demonstrate their snowboarding abilities in the event.

An enormous hill eight meters high (26 feet) with three tracks was built on the esplanade back in December — for the start of the Winter Sports Festival, which includes snowboarding competitions.

«It is on this hill that competitions will be held in one of the most spectacular parts of the slopestyle discipline — jibbing, which is included in the Olympic program,» said the Ministry of Sports of Perm Krai. «Athletes will cover the distance on a »figure« track, perform tricks on jumps, and overcome obstacles.»

Amateur snowboarders will be judged by a jury from the Russian Snowboard Federation. Participants can also look forward to training runs with professional coaches. Prize-winners and winners will advance to the finals of the all-Russian competitions.

Registration for «Snow Battle» is open until January 22 on the website permzimasport.rf.

Earlier we published the full program of the Winter Sports Festival.
