In Udmurtia, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the All-Russian cross-country ski competitions for the prizes of Honored Master of Sports Galina Kulakova have been postponed. This was announced by the Republic«s Cross-Country Skiing Federation.
The competitions were originally scheduled for 23–25 January at the Galina Kulakova Ski Sports and Recreation Complex for boys and girls born in 2008 and 2009.
However, according to forecasts from the regional Hydrometeorological Center, abnormal frosts are expected in Udmurtia from 22–26 January. Temperatures could drop to –36°C (-33°F). The peak of the cold snap coincides precisely with the competition dates of 23 and 24 January.
Holding the races under such weather conditions became impossible. Therefore, for the safety of athletes and spectators, the competitions have been moved to the period of 30 January to 1 February.
Recall that on 21 March in Izhevsk, the VIII International Galina Kulakova Ski Marathon (0+) will be held. Participant registration is currently open. Both adults and children will be able to take to the ski tracks. Famous athletes such as Maxim Vylegzhanin, Ivan Cherezov, Galina Kulakova, and others will ski the course alongside them.
