Relics of St. Innocent of Moscow to Tour Zabaykalsky Krai
A reliquary containing the relics of St. Innocent of Moscow will arrive in Zabaykalsky Krai on July 23 and will be transported across the region«s districts. This was reported on the official portal of the regional government.
A solemn reception of the shrine will take place on July 23 at the Kazan Cathedral in Chita, and on July 24 a Divine Liturgy will be held at the cathedral. After that, the reliquary with the relics will travel to parishes and churches of the region until August 31.
The route will pass through cities and districts of the region, including Petrovsk-Zabaykalsky, Krasny Chikoy, Khilok districts, Borzya, Krasnokamensk, Nerchinsk, Mogocha, Aginskoye, and other territories.

St. Innocent (Veniaminov), Metropolitan of Moscow (1797–1879), was one of the most famous Orthodox missionaries of the 19th century, an enlightener and scholar. He served for many years in Alaska, the Aleutian Islands, and the Far East, translating liturgical books into the languages of indigenous peoples, creating writing systems for them, and opening schools. Later, he headed the Russian Orthodox Church as Metropolitan of Moscow.
Innocent repeatedly visited Zabaykalsky, participated in organizing church life in Eastern Siberia, and is considered one of the outstanding figures of the Orthodox mission in the region. In 1977, the Russian Orthodox Church canonized him.
