Two-Story Building Opposite TYUZ Demolished; Business Center Planned

Opposite the TYUZ (Theater for Young Spectators), an old two-story building that had been fenced off and gradually deteriorating for more than ten years was demolished. This is the building at 1 Shevchenko Street, located on a plot of almost two thousand square meters.

First, the area was fenced off, and then machinery began work. Now only an empty lot remains.

Several years ago, the building was put up for sale for 205 million rubles (approximately $2,278,000 at current rates), along with a design for a business center that could be built on the site. It appears that a new owner has been found and decided to carry out the plans. However, the permitted use of the land is currently for healthcare facilities, but this issue is already being addressed.

The Yekaterinburg city administration told E1.RU that they plan to designate this plot as zone Ts-1 (a public and business zone). The relevant issue has been submitted for consideration by the commission on building and land use rules. If the changes are approved, an office building will likely be built here.

In the spring, we wrote about the sale of a 23-story office building in the center of Yekaterinburg, and in May, an office building on Proletarskaya Street disappeared, where bailiffs had worked for years.

Demolition also awaits the former Harbin restaurant at 38 Kuibyshev Street. Almost the entire block will be developed, including the vacant lot left by the demolished Delhi Hotel — it will be replaced by a retail and office center.
