Properties in Zabaykalsky Krai you can buy for smartphone prices

It seems housing prices in Zabaykalsky Krai are about to soar. Apartments that recently cost an astronomical 15–20 million rubles (about $150,000–$200,000 at current rates) no longer surprise anyone. But what if you only have enough for a brand-new iPhone? Can you really buy property for 180,000 rubles (about $1,800) in Zabaykalsky? Believe it or not, you can. Here are the options.

Let«s start with the cheapest. For 60,000 rubles (about $600), you can consider a 48-square-meter house in the village of Khushenga, Khiloksky District. According to the ad, this property has great potential for creating cozy housing. The house has three rooms and a terrace (or veranda—the seller isn»t sure), and it needs renovation. On the plot, there is a bathhouse, and the toilet is outside. An undeniable advantage is the convenient access to the railway station.

A bit more expensive is a dacha (summer house) in the «Kolos» cooperative, located in Alexandrovka near Chita. It«s being sold for 70,000 rubles (about $700). What do you get for this price? A 5-hundred-square-meter plot and a 50-square-meter house with furniture, but no amenities—the toilet is outside, and there is a cesspit. Pros: the plot is fenced, has plantings, electricity, a stove, and a summer water supply. Cons: the house is not owned outright.

For 80,000 rubles (about $800), another dacha near Chita is offered. It is located in the infamous burned-down cooperative «Lokomotiv-82» in the forest beyond Atamanovka. The seller calls the place quiet and picturesque. Now, only a 20-hundred-square-meter plot remains from the dacha. There was a small house, but it burned down. The dacha has a single owner. He is open to bargaining. An exchange is also acceptable to him.
Prices are rising, and we move to Krasnokamensky District. Not far from the city, in the dacha cooperative «Radost,» for 85,000 rubles (about $850), you can buy a dacha. For this money, you get a winterized house, two glass greenhouses, and a shed. Unfortunately, there is no bathhouse on the plot.
The next option is in Chernyshevsky District and for 95,000 rubles (about $950). The seller warns in the ad that the house is sold for demolition. Judging by the photo, it is uninhabitable. It was built from experimental materials in 2025 and already requires repair. The house has one floor, the roof is covered with metal shingles, and the walls are made of wooden beams. The toilet here is also outside. There is electricity, but no water supply, sewage, or gas. However, near the house, there is a shop accessible via an asphalt road.
For 100,000 rubles (about $1,000), you can choose from two options. The first is in the dacha cooperative «Yuzhnoye» near Krasnokamensk. Structures on this dacha include a shed, a greenhouse, a toilet, and a mini-house with a cast-iron stove. The plot is planted, including berry shrubs. For irrigation, there is water, barrels, and proper pipes.
The second option is also near Krasnokamensk. This is a dacha in the cooperative «Romantik.» It features a two-story summer house and a 6-hundred-square-meter plot. The ad author writes that the plot has a fruit-bearing garden—eight currant bushes, three rows of raspberries, a pear tree, an apple tree, cherry bushes (2), and two glazed greenhouses for growing vegetables and herbs.
Two more options are sold for 130,000 rubles (about $1,300). Again, Krasnokamensk, and again a dacha cooperative. And it«s not quite a dacha, as there is no house on the plot—it burned down. However, you can still relax after garden chores—a kiosk has been brought to the plot as a temporary shelter. The owners have half-restored the fence and are ready to leave corrugated sheets for continuation. The gazebo survived the fire. There are two large containers on the plot. And the plot itself is flat and small.
The second option is in Karymsky District. This is also a dacha. It is located in the cooperative «Vostochny» between Turinskaya and Darasun. The ad author writes that you can get there by electric train or bus. The plot has 6 hundred square meters of land, fertilized with manure, with a hothouse and berry shrubs. The house consists of a kitchen, a room, and a veranda. There is furniture and an electric stove. Preserves can be stored in the basement. You can stay overnight in the house in summer and not even miss amenities—the dacha has a bathhouse and shower, and there is water supply. Importantly, the neighbors are normal.
Approaching the price of an iPhone. The next lot is sold for 150,000 rubles (about $1,500). This price is asked for a dacha in the cooperative «Entuziast» near Krasnokamensk. On the plot, there is a summer house and plantings—raspberries, currants, plum, cherry, bird cherry, honeysuckle.
Almost at the price of an iPhone—for 170,000 rubles (about $1,700)—a dacha in Khiloksky District, on Zhilkin Khutor, near a lake, is being sold. The ad author mentions that the plot has a bathhouse, a greenhouse, and a summer house. Water can be taken from a well. An obvious advantage of the offer—the dacha is in a quiet, peaceful, picturesque location.
