U.S. and Russia Hold Talks in Miami, Call Them Productive
Both sides described the consultations as productive after a meeting between Russian and American envoys in Miami.

Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, described negotiations with his American counterpart Steve Whitkoff in Miami as constructive, as he wrote on social network X.
The message stated: «A constructive meeting with the U.S. peace delegation. Also a productive discussion on the U.S.-Russia economic working group.»
Dmitriev was responding to a post by U.S. President«s Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff, who said the United States was encouraged by the meeting.
«We were encouraged by this meeting, which shows Russia is working to ensure peace in Ukraine,» Whitkoff wrote on X.
On the U.S. side, besides Whitkoff, the consultations were attended by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Donald Trump«s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and White House senior advisor and commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service at the U.S. General Services Administration Josh Grünbaum.
Dmitriev«s visit to Miami came ahead of a new round of Russia-Ukraine talks in Abu Dhabi, which will begin on February 1. The United States participated in the previous two-day meetings. Those consultations were held behind closed doors. For the first time, the sides directly discussed a peace plan that Washington has been coordinating since October 2025.
