Deputies want to ban foreigners convicted of serious and especially serious crimes from entering Russia. Such a bill has already been prepared by a group of parliamentarians led by Leonid Slutsky.

«The Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) insists that foreign citizens and stateless persons who already have a conviction for serious or especially serious crimes must be banned for life from entering our country,» Slutsky told TASS.

As stated in the explanatory note, under current legislation, measures are in place to prevent convicted foreign citizens from entering Russian territory for a certain period. At the same time, it is noted that the number of crimes committed by migrants is increasing.

«Russian citizens should not fear that they might end up on the same street in the evening with a migrant who has robbery, assault, or, worse, murder in their «record.» They should not be afraid to let their child go alone to school or to friends on the next street,» the deputy noted.

According to him, the safety of Russians should be a priority.
