At a meeting on February 4, St. Petersburg deputies recommended including Nikolai Bulaev in the next convocation of the Central Election Commission. 44 deputies voted for the recommendation, two abstained, and one voted against.
Deputy Denis Chetyrbok, who moved the initiative, recalled that the powers of the current CEC expire in March. «Five candidates are appointed by the Federation Council from among those proposed by regional legislative bodies,» he explained. Chetyrbok proposed the candidacy of the current deputy head of the CEC, saying: «Everyone knows this man. He interacts with St. Petersburg.»
