On Wednesday, 28 January, the Federation Council of Russia dismissed Senator Alexander Weinberg from the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. The politician wrote a statement on the early termination of his powers, according to the regional parliament.
The 64-year-old Weinberg is leaving his seat in the Federation Council of his own volition, planning to go to the special military operation.
The Chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod Legislative Assembly, Yevgeny Lyulin, took this decision with understanding, noting its thoughtfulness and consideration.
‘From the very beginning of the special military operation, Alexander Weinberg has actively helped the front, participated in collecting humanitarian aid, and repeatedly traveled into the combat zone. This year, due to the expiration of his term in the Federation Council, he decided not to wait for a specific date and to focus his efforts on assisting the fighters of the special military operation,’ stated Lyulin.
