Second round of Russia-US-Ukraine talks begins in Abu Dhabi

The second round of a trilateral working group on resolving the Ukrainian conflict has begun in Abu Dhabi. The meetings are being held in a closed format, the Reuters news agency reports.
«Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are resuming in Abu Dhabi,» the publication states.
It is still unclear how long the parties will communicate. It is only known that the meetings are taking different forms. According to the Associated Press, sometimes participants step aside to discuss something separately, sometimes everyone gathers together, and sometimes several groups break off by topic.
There are currently no plans to hold a press conference following the trilateral meetings, a source from the RIA Novosti news agency reports.
During the first round, the delegations did not reach any compromises. The main issue remains the territorial question, Reuters reports.
Despite this, the US administration called the first day of negotiations productive, a White House representative told NBC News.
In addition to the territorial issue, the parties intend to discuss a partial ceasefire. The American and Ukrainian delegations want to propose this to Russia. The idea is that Ukraine should stop strikes on Russian oil refineries and ships that are part of the so-called shadow fleet. In response, Russia should stop attacks on the Ukrainian energy system.
Additionally, four documents that are expected to form the basis of a peace treaty will be presented at the summit. One of the documents concerns the complete withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Donbas.
