Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with TASS on January 24 that US authorities still have not released two Russian citizens who were crew members of the tanker «Marinera».

«We still have no clarity on when the American side will finally fulfill its promise — made at the highest level — to release the Russian citizens from the crew,» the diplomat emphasized.

The tanker «Marinera» under the Russian flag left Venezuela on January 7 and was soon seized by US forces. After intervention by the Russian Foreign Ministry, President Donald Trump promised on January 9 to release the sailors.

This vessel is part of a group of seven tankers that left Venezuela after the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro by US military. The whereabouts of «Marinera» and other ships remain unknown, but Trump stated that the United States has appropriated the oil from these tankers.
