Kuzbass Governor Says Social and Healthcare Systems Are Critical

The head of Kuzbass stated the need to assess the region«s social sphere and healthcare system after a series of high-profile events that occurred over the past month. At an administrative meeting on Monday, 2 February, Ilya Seredyuk said he would personally monitor the implementation of requirements to improve the work in these areas.

According to the governor, January and the events that took place during that month showed that the situation in two areas—the medical and social spheres of the region—is critical.

The head of the region promised that, based on the inspection results, those responsible for mistakes would be punished. He named the main task for the authorities as conducting an analysis of the entire system of medical and social assistance.

«Going to the hospital should not be an ordeal. People should not worry about their relatives who are in social institutions,» Seredyuk continued.

The governor also announced that he would personally check the fulfillment of the requirements, without prior warning to the organizations.
