Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev instructed the regional government, together with the prosecutor«s office, to develop measures to monitor price formation at independent gas stations. This was announced at an operational meeting on Tuesday, 21 July.
The fuel supply situation in the region is monitored daily. According to the governor, the federal task force led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak reported that the situation is stabilizing.
«Overall, it can be said that the situation is stabilizing, and we see this at our own filling stations,» Fedorishchev noted.
However, the head of the region drew attention to the pricing policies of independent companies. Unlike vertically integrated ones (Rosneft, Tatneft, Lukoil, Gazprom), prices at independent gas stations can fluctuate significantly.
Fedorishchev instructed First Deputy Governor — Chairman of the Government Vitaly Shabalatov — to work with the prosecutor«s office on additional measures to limit price fluctuations at independent gas stations, and also to study the experience of other regions in reducing speculative demand for gasoline.
«In many regions, measures are being taken that, one way or another, limit price fluctuations at independent gas stations even under a market economy,» the governor emphasized.
