Buffer Zones and Control Mechanisms Discussed at Russia-US-Ukraine Meeting

The trilateral meeting is discussing parameters for ending the conflict
Some of the topics of the negotiations being discussed at the trilateral meeting of Russian, US, and Ukrainian delegations in the UAE have become known. It started on January 23.
The start of the meeting was officially announced by the head of the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also welcomed the fact of the meeting.
«The Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed the holding of trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the US in Abu Dhabi, expressing hope that they would contribute to taking steps aimed at ending the crisis,» the statement by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
As a TASS source writes, among the topics of the negotiations are buffer zones and various control mechanisms.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that at the negotiations in Abu Dhabi, the parameters for ending the conflict are being discussed.
«Almost every hour I am briefed by Ukrainian representatives, they are now in the Emirates, today there are Ukrainian, American, and Russian delegations, there has already been a conversation... they are talking about parameters,» Zelensky«s address is quoted by RIA Novosti.
The American and Ukrainian delegations want to propose to Russia a partial ceasefire, as previously reported by the Financial Times. This would involve Russia stopping strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, and Ukraine, in turn, ceasing attacks on Russian oil refineries and tankers of the so-called shadow fleet.
Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov earlier noted that before departing for Abu Dhabi, the Kremlin representatives received specific instructions from the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
It is noted that the American side«s representative, Steve Witkoff, will also hold separate talks on economic issues with the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Dmitriev. They will discuss the »Peace Council« and Russia»s readiness to allocate $1 billion to the organization«s budget from Russian assets frozen by the previous US administration.
