Self-employed in Udmurtia to get paid sick leave from 2026

Starting in 2026, citizens registered as self-employed in Udmurtia will be able to receive paid sick leave. This was announced by the press service of the branch of the Social Fund of Russia in the Udmurt Republic.
All self-employed individuals who have joined the voluntary social insurance system will be able to receive sick leave payments. To do this, they must register with the regional branch of the Social Fund of Russia and pay insurance premiums. Currently, over 60,000 residents of the republic have already applied to participate in the voluntary insurance program.
How can you apply?
An application to participate in the voluntary social insurance program for the self-employed can be submitted remotely via the “My Tax” app or the Gosuslugi (State Services) portal, or in person at any client service office of the Social Fund of Russia branch in Udmurtia.
What should the insurance premium amount be?
According to the press service of the Social Fund of Russia branch in the Udmurt Republic, citizens themselves choose the insurance sum on which the future benefit amount will be calculated:
35,000 rubles per year (about $390 at current rates) — a monthly payment of 1,344 rubles (about $15) or an annual payment of 16,128 rubles (about $180);
50,000 rubles per year (about $560 at current rates) — a monthly payment of 1,920 rubles (about $21) or an annual payment of 23,040 rubles (about $260).
Note: the contribution rate is 3.84% of the chosen insurance sum. Contributions can be paid monthly or once a year. Moreover, the amounts will be indexed proportionally to the increase in the cost of living.
The exact amount of sick leave payment will be calculated taking into account the total length of service (including periods of employment) and the duration of the citizen«s participation in the voluntary insurance program.
When can a self-employed person receive the first sick leave payment?
A self-employed person who has joined the voluntary insurance system will be able to receive the first sick leave payment only 6 months after starting to pay contributions. It will be assigned within 10 working days after the sick leave is closed, provided that the citizen has consented to the payment of sick leaves in the “My Tax” app or on the Gosuslugi portal.
