Novosibirsk Announces Average Teacher Salaries with Travel and Rent Aid

Novosibirsk faces a shortage of elementary school teachers, as the city hall announces average salaries and compensation packages including travel and rent support.

The average salary of teachers in Novosibirsk schools last year was 92,600 rubles (approximately $926 at current rates), according to the press center of the city hall as reported by NGS.

The most in-demand positions in schools are for elementary grade teachers, as well as those in mathematics, Russian language and literature, foreign languages, and physics.

The municipality compensates education system employees for housing rent and urban transport fares, and provides a one-time allowance to young specialists. Authorities also offer vouchers for sanatorium-resort treatment and ensure kindergarten placements for children, with no meal charges for employees of preschool institutions.

«In addition, the regulation on the wage system for institution employees provides for a monthly supplement to young specialists for three years, amounting to 25% of the salary proportional to hours worked,» added the city education department.

City hall officials note that targeted training and professional retraining are available through Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University and regional pedagogical colleges.

In October 2025, NGS reported that the average salary for specialists ranged from 37,000 to 81,000 rubles (approximately $370 to $810 at current rates).
