hh.ru analysts name best times to look for new jobs

Analysts from hh.ru have found out what time of year is best for searching for a new job—these are periods when the highest activity is recorded in the labor market. They occur in February–April and September–November.

“February–April is the start of the financial year, with strategy and budget approvals, and funds are allocated for team expansion. And in September–November, new projects are launched, remaining funds are utilized, and staff is adjusted based on half-year results,” hh.ru said.

Analysts noted that in 2025, in the Yaroslavl region, the largest number of vacancies were opened in April. The highest salary offers were recorded in November.

By December, activity in permanent hiring decreases: companies are busy preparing reports and strategic planning. However, demand for part-time employment and side jobs sharply increases.

July and August are traditionally considered the «dead season» for hiring. Recruiters, managers, and job seekers go on vacation. The number of permanent employment vacancies declines. But there is an advantage: competition among applicants is minimal.

There are exceptions to the general rules. For example, in the IT sector, hiring is more uniform throughout the year; in construction and agriculture, demand for personnel grows from March to October; in trade and logistics, the main surge is in December–January due to pre-New Year shopping and gift delivery; in tourism and the hotel business, peak load is in summer and during the New Year holidays, when tourist flow is at its maximum.
