Extra Paid Leave Proposed for Russian Fathers with Three or More Children

Additional days of leave at the employer«s expense should be provided to fathers with many children, according to Vladislav Grib, deputy secretary of Russia»s Public Chamber.
He stated that this norm needs to be enshrined in the Labor Code, believing it will further involve fathers in child-rearing.
“The Labor Code should specify that if there are three children or more, three days should be added to the leave at the employer«s expense, to allow more time with children. This measure will stimulate our demographic tasks,” Grib told TASS.
This is not the only such initiative. Recently, lawmakers proposed reducing the working day by one hour for mothers with many children, saying it would help women devote more time to their children.
Currently, the Russian Labor Code does not provide for additional paid leave for parents with many children. However, employers can grant additional unpaid leave to parents with two or more children under 14.
Also, mothers and fathers in large families have the preferential right to take annual leave in the summer or at another convenient time, which they can choose until the youngest child turns 14.
