Yarche Employee Describes Moment of Novosibirsk Mall Collapse
Emergency services work at the site of the collapsed shopping center in Novosibirsk, removing debris and searching for survivors.
An employee of the Yarche supermarket told NGS about the moment the shopping center collapsed in the Pervomaysky district of Novosibirsk. According to Yekaterina, the collapse happened in a matter of seconds.
“I didn«t hear anything, I was standing at the checkout, and at one moment everything behind me flew: glass, walls, monitors. I was standing, serving a customer, and everything flew. It was very scary,” recalls Yekaterina.
The worker notes that there were few people in the supermarket. Visitors panicked, Yekaterina helped them calm down, and one of the customers — a man — helped everyone carefully exit through the main door. The employee reports that usually there are many people in the shopping center, it«s very busy. Luckily, at the moment of collapse, there were about five people in Yarche itself.
At the time of publication, two people were extracted from under the rubble.
