Video Shows Omsk Attackers Beating Teens Over Hair
The brawl occurred two days prior.
Video has emerged of the participants in a conflict that occurred on 25 July on Khimikov Street. Three Omsk residents aged 19 to 35 beat 12-year-old teenagers. The footage was published on the MASK channel of the Omsk police. According to the injured boys, the group threatened them with metal rebar and a knife. The teenagers were struck on the head and body.
The Omsk residents were detained.
«Abnormal people came up to us and started beating us. Initially, a person from another group whom we know approached us and said, »Now the salt users will beat the longhairs.« They kicked and punched us on the head and body. They threatened us with rebar and a knife,» the young residents of Omsk recounted.
According to the 19-year-old detainee, they beat the schoolchildren because they allegedly provoked the group: laughing, shouting, and insulting them. One of the young men also cut off a teenager«s hair.
— So, he cut his hair because he thought you shouldn«t have long hair? — the policeman asked during the interrogation.
— Yes.
— And do you think so?
— No, I like long hairstyles myself. Well, we were drunk, — the young man admitted.
The Omsk resident had previously been criminally charged under three articles — «Illegal Drug Trafficking,» «Theft,» and «Robbery.»
«Now I think, if I saw him, I»d shake his hand. I«d apologize and that»s it. If they told me they were 12-13 years old, I didn«t even know. If I had known, I wouldn»t have hit them, honestly,« the detainee stated at the police station.
