Video released of fatal DUI hit-and-run in Kolivan District

The prosecutor«s office of Novosibirsk Region published footage from the scene of a traffic accident in Kolivan District. On 4 February, a driver struck an elderly woman and fled the scene.

“It has been preliminarily established that at midday, a 33-year-old local resident, while intoxicated, driving a Geely Coolray at excessive speed along Maxim Gorky Street in Kolivan, struck a 74-year-old woman who was walking along the road. She died at the scene from her injuries, and the driver left the scene,” the agency clarified.

In connection with the accident, the investigative department of the Russian Interior Ministry«s Kolivan District Police Department has opened a criminal case under points ‘a’ and ‘b’ of Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules by a person under intoxication, resulting in death by negligence, and involving leaving the scene of an accident).

The perpetrator of the accident was detained. Necessary investigative actions are currently being carried out. The progress and results of the investigation have been placed under control by the district prosecutor«s office.

Earlier, NGS reported that a sentence was handed down to a Porsche driver. A pedestrian died as a result of the accident.
