Ufa Woman Reports Stalking and Threats by Ex-Boyfriend

A woman from Ufa has complained about harassment by her ex-boyfriend. She says the young man is terrorizing her: breaking windows in her apartment, waiting at the entrance, and making threats. UFA1.RU learned from lawyer Roman Petrov what the girl should do in this case: whether it makes sense to go to the police.
«My ex-boyfriend threatens to kill me, comes to my home, breaks windows, prevents me from going to work, spreads defamatory information, and constantly writes and calls. He even comes to people I work with. I»m afraid to leave the house,« wrote the Ufa woman in the Telegram channel Ufa_rb.
She also attached a video showing a person breaking her window and running away.
Update: The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of Bashkortostan told UFA1.RU that the girl filed a report over the broken window. An investigation has been launched, after which a decision will be made (on opening a case or refusing).
According to lawyer Roman Petrov, if the victim has correspondence where she is threatened, she can take it to the prosecutor«s office.
«They will initiate an administrative offense case. It»s easiest to prosecute for insult. The police also accept such statements and review them if there are signs of a violation, then pass them to the prosecutor«s office to initiate a case, which then forwards it to a magistrate judge,» the lawyer told UFA1.RU.
He says that in his practice, there have been cases where victims appealed to the prosecutor«s office, which then transferred the materials to the police. MVD employees interviewed those necessary, then returned everything to the prosecutors, who initiated the case.
However, the lawyer notes, death threats are difficult to prove.
«But unfortunately, as in the Makhiyanova case: she went, wrote statements, but the local police officer shrugged his hands. Later, he was imprisoned, as far as I remember, but you can»t bring the person back,« noted Roman Petrov.
An employee of the Beloretsky District administration was killed by her ex-husband. He ambushed her on a dark evening and stabbed her several times—the woman died on the spot. The killer was given 10 years. Dina«s colleagues said she had appealed to the police 13 times, and the MVD stated that the victim»s husband had been held accountable several times.
The lawyer added that judges have begun applying the punishment of «prohibition on approaching»—for example, no closer than 300 meters.
The lawyer recommended in such cases to have a recording of specific threats: for example, «I will disfigure you,» «I will break something of yours,» «I will burn you,» «I will kill you,» and so on. They are the basis for initiating a criminal case.
Roman Petrov also explained that usually such threats are made without recording (on audio or video) or are veiled, so such cases are difficult to prove.
UFA1.RU also contacted the MVD of Bashkortostan for a comment. As soon as we receive a response, we will publish it.
Also note that in 2026, the State Duma discussed introducing punishment for stalking. Fines and arrest are proposed.
