A 9th-grade student who opened fire at a school in Ufa two days ago will remain at home while the investigation continues. The court ruled that he be placed under house arrest.
Recall that on 3 February, the ninth-grader came to his school with a plastic toy gun that he had taken from his brother. It was initially thought to be a pneumatic or airsoft weapon, but it turned out to be a toy.
Entering the classroom during a homeroom lesson, he shot at the teacher. The bullet struck the teacher in the face but caused no injury. The student also set off firecrackers, which other students mistook for gunfire.
That day, the students were scheduled to hold anti-terrorism drills — precisely for such an incident. So when they heard the alarm, they barricaded themselves in their classrooms and managed to inform their parents that they were safe. Officials officially stated that no one was injured.
The shooter stated that he had been preparing for several weeks and simply wanted to intimidate due to problems with that teacher and other students. The teacher himself noted after the incident that he felt sorry for the boy.
Now the teenager is facing attempted murder charges. He will spend two months at home — under house arrest, defendants are forbidden to leave the house and use the internet or other means of communication.
Everything known about the incident is collected in a separate story here.
