Tyumen man planned terrorist attack at enterprise

In Tyumen, a 60-year-old local resident was killed during an arrest on July 19, suspected of preparing a terrorist attack and assaulting law enforcement officers. He manufactured explosives, hid them in an abandoned building, and intended to carry out a terrorist attack. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR).

The ICR opened a criminal case against the Tyumen resident. He is suspected of preparing a terrorist attack, illegal trafficking of firearms and ammunition, illegal trafficking of explosive devices, and assault on the life of law enforcement officers.

According to investigators, the 60-year-old Tyumen resident contacted a representative of Ukrainian special services via Telegram on his own initiative. On his instructions, he prepared a terrorist attack at one of the large industrial enterprises in the Urals.

The official statement said that the suspect studied a section of railway tracks, the security system, and the train schedule. He then found vulnerable spots for placing an improvised explosive device (IED). Afterwards, he manufactured it.

«In the nighttime of July 19, 2026, the suspect, while on the first floor of an abandoned building in the city of Tyumen, placed an IED in a hiding spot he had prepared. The man«s criminal activity was detected by FSB officers. During the arrest, he offered armed resistance. He was eliminated,» — the agency added.

The Investigative Committee clarified that searches were conducted at the Tyumen resident«s place of residence. There, firearms, components for making another IED, and mobile phones were found.

Previously, we reported an attempt to set fire to a military enlistment office in Tyumen. A woman threw at the building four bottles of incendiary mixture. As a result, a mat by the entrance door caught fire. The fire was quickly extinguished.
