Trains to Volgograd and Kamyshin Delayed by Derailment

Two trains from Moscow to Volgograd and Kamyshin are delayed by four to eight hours after a freight train carrying gasoline derailed and caught fire near Tambov.

Federal Passenger Company announced delays for two trains traveling from Moscow to Volgograd and Kamyshin. The announcement was made on the company«s Telegram channel, with the cause being the derailment of freight cars carrying petroleum products near Tambov and the subsequent fire.
Notifications about delays were sent to passengers of the branded train No. 2 from Moscow to Volgograd.

The first reports of the incident on the Southeastern Railway line appeared on the evening of 4 February.
«At 15:34 MSK at Kochetovka-2 station in Tambov Region, a freight train derailed followed by a fire of the cargo (gasoline). According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. Firefighters and recovery trains have been dispatched to the scene,» said a statement published on Russian Railways« Telegram channel. «Train movement through the station has been suspended. Russian Railways has set up a task force to deal with the aftermath. Delays are expected for trains on southern routes. The causes of the incident are being established.»
Investigators from the Western Interregional Transport Investigations Directorate have already opened a criminal case under the article «Violation of traffic safety rules and operation of railway transport resulting in major damage.» Later, the Federal Passenger Company (FPK) reported delays of 16 passenger trains, including two trains bound for Volgograd and Volgograd Region. Among them is the branded train No. 2 Moscow – Volgograd. According to the online board at the railway station, the train is arriving 249 minutes late and is expected at the final station around 11 a.m. An even greater delay is for train No. 380 Moscow – Kamyshin — the train passed through Tambov-1 station, and its delay is 479 minutes.
