Trains to Moscow delayed 10 hours by burning fuel tanks

Several train services from Saratov to Moscow and back were delayed for hours due to a fire on railway tracks near Tambov. The Federal Passenger Company (FPC) reported this on 5 February in its Telegram channel.
Firefighters worked through the night to extinguish derailed fuel tank cars near Tambov.

According to the FPC, the following services will be delayed:
  • No. 47 Moscow — Balakovo will depart no earlier than 20:00 instead of 14:50;
  • No. 136 Moscow — Saratov will depart no earlier than 18:30 instead of 15:22;
  • No. 135 Saratov — Moscow will depart no earlier than 16:30 (MSK) instead of 14:20 (MSK);
  • No. 9 Saratov — Moscow will depart no earlier than 19:20 (MSK) instead of 17:11 (MSK).
The company also promised to send notifications via phone with schedule changes to passengers who have tickets for these services. One passenger on train No. 135 Saratov — Moscow, which was supposed to arrive in Moscow around 7 a.m. today, reported that it was delayed approximately midway.
«As a result, it«s now 11:30 MSK, and we haven»t even covered half the distance. We stood still for about 10 hours, moving only a few meters per hour. NO food or drinks, they could have at least given us a bottle of water,» wrote Daria Fartushnova in messages to the Telegram channel «Saratov: Opened/Closed».
She also called the Russian Railways hotline to complain. A passenger on another train, traveling from Astrakhan to Moscow, also wrote that their train was standing still. According to Sofia, the train was supposed to arrive in Moscow at 11:10.
Last evening, the Telegram channel «Novy Vek Tambov» reported that the «liquidation of the fire at the Kochetovka station» in Michurinsk, Tambov Region, was continuing. According to the regional EMERCOM in Tambov, 16 cars of a freight train derailed, causing five fuel tank cars that were on a dead-end track to catch fire.
A total of 47 firefighters and 20 pieces of equipment were deployed. No fatalities or injuries resulted from the incident. Steam generators and a firefighting train also worked at the scene. Rescuers planned to contain the fire and resume train traffic by midnight.
