Trains delayed due to incident in Tambov Oblast
A serious incident with fuel tank cars at Kochetovka-2 station in Michurinsk, Tambov Oblast, Russia, caused significant delays for passenger trains, including services to and from St. Petersburg.

According to carrier Grand Service Express, as of 8:00 a.m. Moscow time on February 5, Tavria trains were running with delays.
Heading to Crimea:
- Train No. 068 Moscow — Simferopol (departure February 4) is 7.5 hours behind schedule.
- Train No. 195 Moscow — Simferopol (departure February 4) is 5 hours late.
- Train No. 007 St. Petersburg — Sevastopol (departure February 4) is delayed by 4 hours.
- Train No. 092 Moscow — Sevastopol (departure February 4) is 3 hours behind.
Departing from Crimea:
- Train No. 008 Sevastopol — St. Petersburg (departure February 3) is 5 hours late.
- Train No. 068 Simferopol — Moscow (departure February 3) is delayed by 6 hours.
- Train No. 196 Simferopol — Moscow (departure February 3) is 4.5 hours behind.
- Train No. 092 Sevastopol — Moscow (departure February 3) is 5 hours late.
Passengers on trains delayed four hours or more are provided with food and drinking water.
Train No. 028 Simferopol — Moscow, which departed on February 3 and was running late, has already arrived at its destination.
The disruption was caused by an incident on February 4 at Kochetovka-2 station in Michurinsk, Tambov Oblast. At 15:34, fuel tank cars derailed there, sparking a major fire. No casualties were reported, but traffic through the station was temporarily suspended.
Tambov Oblast Governor Yevgeny Pervyshov said on the morning of February 5 that the fire was contained overnight over an area of about 50 square meters. There is no threat of further spread, and emergency restoration work is ongoing. Freight and passenger trains are being rerouted around Kochetovka.
«After the extinguishing is complete, the exact cause of the fire will be determined and the damage assessed. Currently, railway workers are taking measures to reduce the delay,» the statement said.
