Three Perish in Fiery Crash Near Rostov-on-Don
The fatal collision occurred on the morning of January 20 on the Elista – Remontnoye – Zimovniki highway in the Rostov region.
The vehicles involved were a Renault Duster passenger car and a MAZ truck with a semi-trailer.
The police report stated: «While attempting to overtake, the driver of the passenger car, born in 1966, failed to ensure the maneuver was safe and collided with the truck with a semi-trailer driven by a man born in 1995.»
As a result of the impact, the foreign-made car caught fire. The driver of the Renault Duster and two passengers died in the fire. A four-year-old girl who was in the passenger car sustained injuries and was urgently taken to a medical facility.
Investigative authorities have initiated a criminal case under the article «Violation of traffic rules resulting in death through negligence.»
