St. Petersburg Man Beats Pensioner Outside Kazan Cathedral

In St. Petersburg, an incident occurred near the Kazan Cathedral involving a pensioner from Orenburg who was awarded a gold GTO (Ready for Labor and Defense) badge of Stage XVIII in 2025. The victim received the award from the hands of the regional Minister of Physical Culture and Sports. On July 21, information emerged that the elderly man had been injured by a local resident who was relieving himself in a trash can at one of the most visited tourist spots in the city.

The incident occurred on Tuesday around noon. The pensioner noticed an unknown man urinating into a trash can near a canteen and admonished him, after which he walked away. However, the offender finished his business, caught up with the man, and attacked him with his fists.

As a result of the attack, the pensioner with the gold GTO badge sustained injuries and was hospitalized at the Mariinskaya Hospital. The attacker was detained by a Rosgvardiya (Russian National Guard) squad and taken to a police station. It was discovered that the detainee had previously been convicted multiple times. In the near future, likely another criminal case will be opened against him.
