Siberian man stung by hornets while removing nest

A 54-year-old resident of the village of Kozino in Novosibirsk Region was hospitalized after being attacked by hornets. The victim«s wife told NGS the details of the incident. According to her, her husband decided to get rid of the insects» nest on the night of 21 July.

«He found out that they sleep at night, put on large welding gloves, and removed it (the nest, — ed.) into a large bag, but they still stayed there. He suppressed as many as he could, but two stung him. One in the side, and the second in the leg. I was at home. He comes into the house, only managed to say: »Natasha, I«ve been stung, call an ambulance.» And literally 15 seconds later, he fell flat on his face in the hallway and passed out,« the Siberian woman shared.

The woman called an ambulance and the local paramedic, and began giving first aid herself.

«While waiting for the paramedic, I washed him with cold water and cried that he wasn»t coming to. After about five minutes, he started moving, but couldn«t open his eyes, and his tongue stopped working, he was moaning,» the victim«s wife recalls.

The paramedic arrived and measured the man«s pulse and blood pressure — his heart was barely beating, and the tonometer showed 70 over 40. The medic then gave the patient several injections. Then an ambulance arrived and set up an IV. The man was hospitalized with anaphylactic shock.

Today, 23 July, the Siberian returned home. His condition has improved. But the problem hasn«t gone away.

«We can»t go into the shed, we have chickens there. We don«t know what to do. This year is some kind of hell! And he laughs: »I guess I«ll feed them jam now,»« the victim»s wife concluded.

The Siberian woman added that this year there are many wasps and hornets in Kozino, and one of the neighbors has a nest on the porch of her house.
