How are the children?« No response to replies. As if at the other end of the line, it wasn»t a living person but a soulless algorithm.
The Samara woman dreamed of a career in show business and modeling.
Her traces are lost, now in Kazakhstan, where she was seen begging from passersby, now in Moscow, where she was replacing a lost passport, and then, according to some reports, they lead to sunny Dubai. Her name and surname were changed on her social media; now she is Nicole Starkova. And at the police station lies a missing person report and a notebook with entries that make investigators speak not of a simple flight, but of recruitment. Of the possibility that the young woman could have become a victim of a well-organized group possessing all the hallmarks of a destructive cult.
She became convinced she could unlock her potential and began pursuing her dreams.
What happened? How did the life of an ordinary Samara woman, a successful beauty specialist, a happy mother, turn into a criminal detective story with an international trail? Who and why gave her these strange, increasingly absurd and dangerous tasks? And most importantly — where is Yekaterina now?
Yekaterina left her two children with her ex-husband after moving into a separate apartment.

Yekaterina Savelyeva (maiden name Smirnova) is not one of those whom life smiled upon from the beginning. An orphan, raised in a children«s home. The state provided her with an apartment, and beyond that she built her life herself. And, credit where it»s due, she built it persistently. She married successfully, gave birth to two children. Found a calling — opened her own beauty salon, specializing in eyelash extensions and eyebrow tinting. Clients loved her for her easygoing nature and skilled hands.
Relatives have filed a missing person report and distributed alerts to aid the search.
From the outside — a success story. An orphan who rose up, created a family and a business. But, as her friends tell, inside Yekaterina there always lived a feeling that she deserved more. A sensation familiar to millions, stoked by social media with their glossy pictures of other people«s lives. She didn»t just want to be a good mother and entrepreneur. She wanted to shine.
«A couple of years ago, Katya got into motivational training,» her friends say. «She became convinced she could unlock her potential, work as a model, act in films, travel to different countries. And she began to realize her dreams.»
Dreams are wonderful fuel. But in unskilled hands they can burn the very fragile foundation that was built with such difficulty. Katya started going to beauty contests, enrolled in pole acrobatics classes, acted in videos for local bands and advertisements. She created a profile stating: «Beginner actor,» «Beginner model,» «Ready to relocate to any country.» In the «Dream» field was written: «Move to Moscow, get a creative education, create projects.»
Her husband, who initially supported his wife«s hobbies, began to notice that the children were taking a back seat. The house was often empty — both the refrigerator and communication. Arguments began. The conflict between the »pragmatic« reality of family life and the »lofty« reality of trainings and castings became inevitable. And Katya made a choice. She left. Rented an apartment and, having freed herself, threw herself with renewed vigor into »forging her happiness.«
«Kinoprichal»: The Reality Show That Wasn«t
In the summer of 2025, luck seemed to smile on her. Yekaterina passed the selection and became a participant in the reality show «Kinoprichal» in Gelendzhik (a Russian resort city). Two weeks of masterclasses in acting, stage movement, etiquette. Two weeks in the company of fellow dreamers, under the guidance of trainers who promised to «mold them into stars.»
«She returned elated,» acquaintances recall. «Her eyes were shining, she said she had finally found her place. She was waiting for the show to air to see herself on screen.»
The broadcast never happened. And was never planned. As discovered by a correspondent for «AiF,» looking at the project«s page, »Kinoprichal« was a paid educational intensive. Participation cost 150,000 rubles (approximately $2,100 at current rates), plus flights and excursions. The organizers were the »Academy of World Preservation (World Star Factory)« and the »Center of Life« of business coach Nikolai Kovalev. The project featured names of former participants of the reality show »Dom-2« (a popular Russian reality TV program). Bright packaging, star names, promise of transformation — a classic set for attracting those who crave a miracle.
Yekaterina Savelyeva«s faith grew stronger after the project. She sent video business cards to TV channels, acted in amateur videos. In her profile she wrote: »I«ve acted in commercials, worked as a TV presenter, participated in fashion shows… I really want to act in movies because I want to become a star.»
She wanted to become a star, while someone else wanted her to become a perfect target.
Conveyor Belt of Total Obedience
In August, Katya told friends she was leaving Samara. «Going to study in Kazakhstan from my school,» she said. «And then to Dubai.»
«School.» This word became key. After her disappearance, relatives, having broken into her apartment, found that very notebook. Its contents — a cold and methodical document illustrating the technique of «soft» enslavement.
The tasks began with innocent, almost everyday ones.
Task 1: Go to a store and buy a specific item (practicing the mechanism of mindless order execution).
Task 2: Drive a car-sharing car along a specific route (control over movements, training in reporting).
Then — financial.
Task 3: Take out a loan for 3 million rubles (approximately $42,900 at current rates). She did it. Where the money went — a mystery. Perhaps it became her «contribution» to the organization or was transferred to «curators.»
And finally, total tasks, breaking the personality and all social ties.
Task 4: Abandon everything, forget the children and go to Kazakhstan for training. She did that too.
This is a classic scheme of cult control, described by many experts on destructive groups. Social psychologist Mikhail Vershinin, who studies recruitment mechanisms in communities like «Lifespring,» explains: «The standard scheme for reinforcing a model of cult thinking is to send a newbie to convince others of the cult»s idea. In the process, the adherent imperceptibly begins to believe in this nonsense. Another trick is filling out cards where you are asked to write any goal. In the process, they «help» you believe it is achievable only through training in the group. You hang your favorite carrot in front of yourself and run after it.«
Yekaterina hung the carrot — the image of herself as a star. And the curators methodically led her along a path where the goal receded, and debts and dependence grew.
Trail in Moscow and New Name
In the autumn of 2025, Savelyeva«s traces appeared in Moscow. According to police, she filed a report about a lost passport and received new documents. This step is extremely important. A new passport facilitates travel abroad, complicates searches, and can be used to register documents under a new, »sectarian« name.
Simultaneously, a metamorphosis occurred in her social media. Yekaterina Savelyeva disappeared. Nicole Starkova appeared. A bright, glamorous, «star» name. As if the old personality, with her children, debts, and past, had been erased. The account began to be maintained in a detached, formulaic manner. The messages that came to relatives («Hello, how are you? How are the children?») had nothing to do with real communication. Most likely, this was simulated contact, needed to create an appearance of well-being and delay serious searches.
On 5 December 2025, she was last seen in Moscow. Then — silence.
Shadows of «Gurus»: Pavel Rakov and «Harmony»
In materials provided by Savelyeva«s close ones, mentions of trainings and names known in the world of dubious »coaching« began to flash in her social media before her disappearance. One such name is Pavel Rakov.
Pavel Rakov positions himself as a family psychologist, «founder of popular women»s show-trainings since 1998.« His Telegram channel has over 10,000 subscribers. He calls himself the creator of proprietary methods. However, online there are a huge number of negative reviews about him. People accuse him of fraud, lack of psychological education (there is information that his education is in physics teaching), aggressive and humiliating working methods.
«This is the most ordinary charlatan and fraud,» writes the desperate daughter of a woman caught in his net on a forum. «My mother is already completely immersed. They have erased her personality and critical thinking. She doesn»t want to listen to me or her loved ones. She only wants to be there.«
Another user, who studied his methods, describes seminars where Rakov shouts at a female audience: «Bitches, scum!», calling this «shock therapy.» He preaches ideas that «a woman who works does not live with her husband,» she is a «slave,» and teaches how to «acquire a high-ranking alpha male millionaire.» The cost of such «revelations» is from 8,000 to 15,000 rubles (approx. $115–$215 at current rates).
What does this have to do with Yekaterina? No direct connection has been established in the case materials. But the ecosystem itself is important. This is an environment where psychocults flourish — groups masquerading as personal growth trainings but using techniques of mind control, family separation, and financial enslavement. Yekaterina, with her thirst for transformation and belief in «quick success,» was ideal prey for hunters in this environment.
And for Samara, such groups are nothing new. Previously, 63.RU published an investigation about the training center «Harmony» and its head, Ella Prudnikova. Former participants describe shocking practices: men were forced to walk in tights and high heels, given tasks to «collect 10 unused condoms from passersby» or «conduct a survey: »How often do you fart in an elevator?«» This under the guise of «leadership programs» and «liberation.»
But the main thing — the financial scheme. People were drawn into debt, forced to take loans, register shell companies for cashing out money. Lawyer for the victims Alexei Kirdyashev states: «There are grounds for a criminal case, but it is extremely difficult to initiate. The psychological context, systematicity, and intent often remain off-screen, and from the outside everything looks like civil-law relations.»
This story is like a reflection in a distorting mirror of what may have happened to Yekaterina. The same handwriting: promise of personal growth, strange tasks, financial manipulations, break with the past.
International Trail: Kazakhstan, Dubai, UAE
According to information gathered by relatives and journalists, the chain of Savelyeva«s movements extends far beyond Russia.
Kazakhstan. She said she was going there «for training.» Later, information came in that she was seen in one of the country«s cities, where she was asking passersby for money. A humiliating task? A method of transferring funds to curators? Or a sign that she had already been deprived of financial support?
Dubai/UAE. In correspondence with friends, she mentioned Dubai as the next point. The Investigative Committee is also working on the version of her being in the UAE in its inquiries. This route is alarming. The Middle East, especially the UAE, is a known destination not only for tourists but also for various dubious business projects and communities using the territory for their seminars.
Moscow. Returning to Russia to get a new passport is a logistical move, speaking of someone»s guidance. Losing a passport on your own before a foreign trip is absurd. Doing it by instruction to get a «clean» document is strategically possible.
Where do these traces lead? To a specific training center? To a commercial sect masquerading as an «acting school» or a «community of wisdom and strength»? Or to something darker — to a network connected not only with extorting money but also with human trafficking? For now, as they say in the Investigative Committee, «all we can do is assume and build theories.»
«Mom, Come Back!»
While investigators analyze financial flows and request information from abroad, two children in Samara are waiting for their mom. They are still too young to understand the complexity of this story. They just know mom is gone. Yekaterina«s ex-husband, despite the divorce, is actively involved in the search. He and other relatives have distributed alerts across the country.
«HELP FIND A PERSON,» the leaflet states. «MAY BE IN YOUR CITY.» On it — a sweet, smiling girl with green eyes. Height 160 cm (5 ft 3 in), slender, blonde hair. Yekaterina Savelyeva or already Nicole Starkova? Who is she now?
Relatives filed a report with the police. A criminal case has been initiated, but the article (charge) is not yet disclosed — investigation secrecy. File a police report. If a person has disappeared, changed behavior, taken out unexplained loans — that is grounds for an official appeal.
