Rospotrebnadzor does not yet consider recreation on the beaches of Anapa and Temryuk District (Krasnodar Krai, Russia) safe due to the consequences of mazut (heavy fuel oil) pollution. This was stated by the head of the agency, Anna Popova, speaking at a government hour in the Federation Council.

«Unfortunately, the content of petroleum products in the beach sand is so high that it is currently impossible to allow children to rest there,» she emphasized.

At the same time, Popova noted that the situation may change by the beginning of the summer season if the cleanup of the territories yields results.

Recall that in December 2025, the Governor of Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondratyev, during a «direct line» announced that the authorities hope to solve the problem «by the beginning of the season, and maybe by the end of this winter.»

According to the operational headquarters, from January 23 to January 29 there were no releases of petroleum products in Anapa and Temryuk District.
