Rescuers name worst-hit areas in Sverdlovsk region floods

The most severe flood situation today has developed in the Verkh-Neyvinsky urban district, Serovsky Municipal District, and Polevskoy Municipal District. This was reported by EMERCOM (Ministry of Emergency Situations) for Sverdlovsk Region. The agency clarified that the flooding is linked to increased discharges from hydraulic structures and heavy downpours.

In the northern part of the region, floodwaters have completely submerged houses.

«Despite the persistently high water levels in rivers, the situation in the region is under the control of emergency services. Floodwaters still remain in 28 municipal formations, but a gradual decline and freeing of territories is being observed everywhere,» reported EMERCOM.

According to rescuers, 8 temporary accommodation centers have been set up in Sverdlovsk Region: 4 in the Irbit Municipal District, 3 in the Irbit Urban District, and 1 in the Kamyshlov Urban District. They currently house 86 people, including 27 children. A total of 407 people, including 97 children, have been evacuated from flood zones. The remaining victims have taken shelter with relatives and friends.

Temporary hydrological stations continue to operate on water bodies, with control readings taken every three hours. Rescuers are conducting door-to-door checks, organizing boat crossings for isolated settlements, and providing targeted assistance to residents. Over the past 24 hours, specialists from EMERCOM of Russia have delivered 91 food packages.

«Clearing of riverbeds and drainage systems continues, garbage removal is underway, and the condition of bridge crossings is being assessed. Specialists from Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being) have begun disinfection of affected areas and organized preventive vaccination of the population. A total of 543 people and 159 units of equipment are involved in the emergency zone,» EMERCOM clarified.
