Rescuers Name Flood-Hit Areas in Sverdlovsk Region

The most difficult situation with flooding is observed in the Verkh-Neyvinsky Urban District, Serovsky and Polevskoy municipalities. As clarified by the Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) for the Sverdlovsk Region, the cause was increased discharges from hydraulic structures and heavy downpours.

«Despite the continuing high water levels in the rivers, the situation in the region is under the control of emergency services. Floodwaters remain in 28 municipalities, but a gradual decline and freeing of territories is observed everywhere,» EMERCOM reported.
Eight temporary accommodation centers have been deployed in the region: four in the Irbitsky Municipal District, three in the Irbit Urban District, and one in the Kamyshlovsky Urban District. They currently house 86 people, including 27 children. A total of 407 people have been evacuated from flood zones, including 97 children. The remaining victims have taken shelter with relatives and friends.
Temporary hydrological posts are operating on water bodies, where control readings are taken every three hours. Rescuers are conducting house-to-house inspections, organizing boat crossings to isolated settlements, and providing targeted assistance. Over the past day, 91 food packages have been delivered.
«Cleaning of riverbeds and drainage systems continues, garbage removal is underway, and the condition of bridge crossings is being assessed. Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) specialists have begun disinfection of affected areas and organized preventive vaccination of the population. A total of 543 people and 159 pieces of equipment have been engaged in the emergency zone,» EMERCOM specified.
Due to the floods, federal highways had to be closed. In some settlements, water rose to the roofs of private homes.
