A court in the Lesozavodsky District of Primorye sentenced a pensioner to a suspended sentence and a fine for drug use, weapons possession, and ammunition manufacturing. This was reported on the court’s website.
In 2015, the man went fishing and found a bag containing a disassembled 32-caliber smoothbore shotgun, another 28-caliber smoothbore barrel with a forend, a plastic jar of gunpowder, eight 32-caliber cartridge cases, and items for making ammunition.
He kept the items. In court, it was revealed that he claimed he needed them for self-defense against wild animals. In reality, the pensioner never used the weapons.
The fisherman found information online on how to make ammunition and produced five rounds. With the found gun and ammunition, he continued to go fishing.
In January 2025, the pensioner found narcotic plants while fishing and picked their leaves. Again using the internet, he found a method to prepare the drug and then consumed it.
Police found the weapons and drugs at the pensioner«s home. In court, the fisherman admitted his guilt and showed remorse — he was fined 105,000 rubles (about $1,200 at current rates) and given a suspended sentence of 4 years and 6 months.
