Police Probe Beating of Labrador 'Lord'

The man who beat his Labrador Lord explained his actions. It was previously reported that residents of a house on Ivashchenko Street found the dog on the night of July 15. Police have launched an investigation into the dog«s injuries, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Irkutsk Region (GU MVD) reported.

According to the Telegram channel Babr Mash, citing eyewitnesses, the dog«s owner was drunk and, together with friends, abused Lord near a dormitory. The publication writes that they tried to shoot the dog and beat it with a chain.

«Lord cried from pain — this was heard by residents of a nearby house. They stopped the abusers and called the police. Later, the owner»s wife arrived. Seeing her, the pet, despite its wounds, began to wag its tail and nuzzle, but she was indifferent and did not want to take it. Now Lord is at the shelter «Hachiko» in very serious condition,« the message said.

The police press service reported that they indeed found the dog with serious injuries on the night of July 15 near a house on Ivashchenko Street and handed the animal over to veterinarians. According to police, Lord«s health is no longer in danger, and he was taken to a shelter in Ulan-Ude.

«According to the owner, the dog, aged about 4 years, showed aggression, which is why he inflicted injuries on it,» the MVD noted.

The district police officer is conducting an investigation, and the man«s actions will be given a legal assessment.
