Gukovo regularly faces water supply problems. The last serious incident occurred on January 16, when a pipe rupture on the Gukovo-Gundorovsky water main left the city without water. Restoration began on January 27.
The Sledstvenny Komitet (Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, SK) has opened criminal cases due to systemic failures in the water supply of mining towns. The situation in Gukovo came to the attention of President Vladimir Putin, who instructed the Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities, Irek Faizullin, to report on the measures taken.
Local residents are often forced to stockpile water and limit the use of washing machines or showering due to constant disruptions.
