Pensioner dies on Volga near Podjabny Island

On Monday, July 20, a tragedy occurred in the Samara Region. According to the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for the region, the incident took place near Podjabny Island.
«We recovered the body of a woman born in 1945 from the Volga River,» rescuers reported.
Over the past 24 hours, units of the regional EMERCOM directorate responded to nine fires:
- in Kirovsky District, trash burned in an unused structure over an area of 10 square meters;
- in Krasnoglinsky District, wooden floors burned in a private house over an area of 7 square meters;
- in Promyshlenny District, a VAZ-2114 car burned;
- in Otradny, trash burned in an unused structure over an area of 10 square meters;
- in the rural settlement of Kinelsky, outbuildings burned over an area of 20 square meters;
- in Otradny, an unused structure burned over an area of 30 square meters;
- in the village of Maloye Mikushkino, Isaklinsky District, a private house burned over an area of 45 square meters.
Fire and rescue units were called out 13 times to respond to traffic accidents, the regional EMERCOM directorate reported.
On July 13 and 17, two men drowned in the Volga.
