A woman from Novouralsk received 1 million rubles ($11,100) for the death of her daughter in a hospital fire. The tragedy occurred in January 2024 in the building of the local narcology department. The woman’s daughter died from smoke inhalation. As it turned out, the fire alarm and warning system were not working in the medical facility, and one of the patients carelessly started a fire with a lighter. Details are reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Sverdlovsk Region.
The hospital did not want to pay: representatives said they called the firefighters in time and tried to evacuate people. But the prosecutor’s office took the mother’s side and helped her in court. The court agreed with the prosecutor’s arguments and ordered the hospital to pay compensation — 1 million rubles.
Rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) clarified that the fire occurred on the fourth floor of the building, and the fire spread over an area of 2 square meters. Twenty-six people were evacuated from the hospital, and a nurse was also injured in the fire.
