In Ilyansky District, transport police are investigating the circumstances of the death of a 38-year-old local resident. The woman was fatally struck by a passenger train near Ilyanka station.
According to the Line Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia at Ilanskaya Station, the report of the incident was received at the duty station on the morning of 18 July. Police officers arriving at the scene determined that the woman was crossing the railway tracks at a regulated pedestrian crossing.
Preliminary data suggests that the woman did not notice the approaching train because she was listening to music through headphones. The driver sounded the horn and applied emergency brakes, but could not avoid the collision. The victim died at the scene from her injuries.
The collected materials will be sent to the Eastern Interregional Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia for a pre-investigation check.
The transport police once again warn residents of the region that gross violations of safety rules at railway facilities often lead to irreparable consequences. Crossing tracks is only permitted in designated areas—via pedestrian bridges, walkways, or tunnels. It is important to pay attention to traffic lights and cross only on a green signal. Additionally, police strongly recommend removing headphones and hoods before crossing railway tracks to hear an approaching train in time.
And on the night of 16 to 17 June, near Krasnoyarsk, a freight train fatally struck a 45-year-old resident of Irkutsk Oblast. The incident occurred on the stretch between Pugachevo and Minino stations.
