Over 250 Ufa residents taken to drunk tanks over New Year
Two and a half hundred residents of Ufa were taken to drunk tanks during the New Year holidays. Moreover, the overwhelming majority were men. This data was shared with UFA1.RU by the Ufa city administration.
In Ufa, there is a Social Rehabilitation Center with two branches: on Karl Marx Street and Pobedy Street, the first serves the southern part of the city, and the second—the northern. Police deliver people here, but «guests» have the option to refuse.
As a rule, in modern drunk tanks, an intoxicated citizen is examined by a paramedic, then the person may be taken to a shower and given the opportunity to spend the night at the center. Over the New Year holidays, the Ufa drunk tank received a significant number of guests.
‘During duty shifts over the New Year holidays, specialists from the Social Rehabilitation Center provided assistance to 258 citizens in a state of alcohol intoxication. Of the total number of those who sought help, 229 were men, 29 were women,’ UFA1.RU was told by the Ufa city administration.
Two and a half hundred people is a large number. For example, as our colleagues from NGS.RU write, in Novosibirsk, 88 people were taken. And the folks from NGS70.RU told a cruel story about how in 2010, a Tomsk journalist was tortured in a drunk tank.
