Officials forced to clear road to disabled man's snowbound home

Local authorities cleared the road only following an intervention by the regional prosecutor«s office.
In Belevsky district, a family with a disabled man of the third category and his ill wife was snowed in due to the local administration«s failure to supervise snow removal from roads, according to the Tula region prosecutor»s office.
The prosecutor«s inspection was initiated after online reports that the disabled man and his wife could not leave their home because of massive snowdrifts.
During the inspection, it was revealed that the administration of the village Novye Doltsy in Belevsky district had contracted an individual entrepreneur for snow removal in the settlement but did not monitor the work«s completion.
As a result, the dirt road on Novoselov Street was not cleared. A 180-meter section was completely buried in snow, preventing the residents from leaving their house and even purchasing food.
Only after the prosecutor«s inspection was the road to the house cleared. The head of the settlement»s administration was issued a formal warning about the impermissibility of violating the law.
